about

OMICRON - Value Theory [MIDN006]

High-tech, heavy hitting electro on Omicron’s debut EP for Midnight Elevator.

Shrouded by the soft glow of flickering LED's and faint background noise of coil-whining analog devices, Omicron makes their debut on Midnight Elevator, with their release entitled "Value Theory". Etching their mark on the underground scene with previous releases on Dominance Electricity and LBR Records, Omicron delivers their ion-charged sound of exotechnological machine funk into the collective consciousness, hinting at what lies beyond the great expanse.

“Shadowed Regions” starts the EP off swinging heavy with head-nodding machine funk, coupled with a fierce wave-jumper bass line and eerie symphonic strings; foreboding what lies within the darkness. Following on in fitting style is the title track, “Value Theory”, a mechanically attuned, low-end assault guided by droid-like voices of repeating fractured motifs and dissonant atmosphere.

The serene & playful "Akkadian" brings bubbling sequences that clitter-clatter against each other, calling and responding to one another, while soaring synthetic strings and knee-shaking bass line propels forever forward. “Proxima” follows suite ending out the EP with intricate ever-moving scenes, reminiscent of Blade Runner, holding the listener captive while it weaves and flows with forever building momentum.

Omicron & Midnight Elevator acknowledges that this work was made on Whadjuk Nyungar Boodjar and would like to pay respect to their community and Elders, for their wisdom, vibrance and care they provide to country and community
